Solve for y in the equation: 3y - 5 = 5(y - 3)

3y-5=5(y-3)

Step one: distribute the 5
3y-5=5y-15

Step two: add 5 to both sides
3y=5y-10

Step three: subtract 5y from each side
-2y=-10

Step four: divide both sides by -2
y=5
